2/23/2005 - The Little White School House Needs Your Help!

The Little White School House, recognized as the Birthplace of the Republican Party, is in need of a complete restoration.  In order to conserve this historic site $120,000 must be raised.  The School House has already been awarded a $60,000 Jeffris Family Foundation Challenge Grant, and now we must match this amount by September 2005.

The restoration will include conservation of the site both interior and exterior, including school benches as well as era specific landscaping and building repair.  The project seeks to restore the School House to its 1850's condition.  In addition, it seeks to add mechanicals allowing for environmental controls, which will preserve the building and its collection of artifacts from the rigors of Wisconsin's humid summers and cold winters.  The building, when restored and with the addition of mechanicals, will then be able to remain open throughout the year, offering programs to school children as well as visitors to the School House.
